The development of a range of high quality moving coil and moving magnet cartridges was a natural progression for both the Reson team and DNM design. Each contributing part must perform its own function while blending with its associated component parts. Reson cartridges are encased in non-metallic Pocan bodies. Enclosing a sensitive coil assembly in a metal body would only serve to distort magnetic fields set up by stylus deflection - reducing information retrieval and clarity. Pocan is an ultra-rigid and lightweight glass-reinforced polyester material. Energy losses from this structure are kept to a minimum and the light weight contributes considerably to overall performance in low mass replay systems. Choice of stylus tip is also critical. The Mica moving magnet cartridge uses the acclaimed Geiger II diamond stylus. This fine line type tip gives smoother extended high frequencies with low distortion coupled with a detailed and dynamic sound.

The Reca moving magnet cartridge and the Aciore cartridge use the superb Geiger S tip. This stylus radius closely reflects the profile of the cutting tip, used to make vinyl masters. The Geiger S tip gives unsurpassed resolution of fine groove modulations while producing an exceptionally smooth and detailed sound across the entire audio band. Advanced diamond tip polishing techniques ensure excellent tracking and reduced record wear. Both Reson moving magnet cartridges use highly efficient magnetic circuits for a smooth and extended frequency response. The moving coil cartridges use powerful rare and earth Neodymium magnets, allowing a shortened internal magnetic path which helps reduce the amount of iron in the cartridge. Overall transducer weight is kept to a minimum.

The Reson cartridges are hand built by British craftsmen, to exacting specifications formulated by the Reson team. All the cartridges are rigorously tested using microscopes and shadow projectors to ensure optimum standards of performance and reliability in keeping with the entire range of DNM and Reson products, a three year parts and labour warranty is offered on all Reson cartridges.
